Middlebury Institutional Repository: A Migration Case Study

Wendy Shook, Brandeis University
Lydia Gentry, Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey

Description

In the summer of 2022, Middlebury began migrating its institutional repository from an Islandora 7 instance to the Figshare platform, beta-testing Figshare's new batch management tool in the process. Part of this development process included pushing boundaries and defining requirements to accommodate Middlebury's own collections and policies. Collaborating with our IT staff and Figshare's development and onboarding teams, the Middlebury repository team navigated metadata cleanup, SSO integration, and re-imagining and improving our repository organization and workflows. We soft-launched Middlebury's new institutional repository in November 2022, and are now anticipating a season of outreach and instructional activities so that our community can take full advantage of the capabilities that the Figshare platform offers.
