This session highlights the Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Award for Children administered by the Pennsylvania Center for the Book at Penn State. The Hopkins Award for Children's Poetry began in 1993 with "Sing to the Sun" by Ashley Bryan being awarded the prize, and 30 titles later, in 2023, "Garvey in the Dark" by Nikki Grimes has been chosen the award winner.
