Abstract
The creative dissertation that follows, Food for Thought, offers a collection of twelve short and very short stories, and a critical introduction that aims to place those stories within the greater literary conversation of weird fiction. This collection explores themes of queerness—both in gender and sexuality—and the uncanny. It attempts also to take food, something that is often a source of comfort and familiarity, and render it more uncomfortable and unfamiliar. These stories encompass my time as part of the Center for Writers at the University of Southern Mississippi between Fall 2017 and Fall 2020 and act as a map of my shifting creative and academic pursuits.
