Abstract
This project comprises both a critical preface and a novel about the luminiferous aether and various scientists who postulate aether as a medium in which faeries dwell. A variety of figures, both real and fictional, are featured, from Isaac Newton and Hermann Oberth to 19th-century biologists and physicists. The main plot concerns a family, the Adlers, from the late-19th century to just before World War II, and follows the different members as they each try to communicate with faeries in their own way.
