Abstract
This dissertation is a collection of poems composed from 2021 to 2024. The title of the manuscript, Hunger Winter, is also the name of the time period in which the Dutch people experienced a severe famine during World War II. Considering themes of postmemory and intergenerational inheritance of trauma, and employing docupoetics, these poems tell the story of my grandparents’ experience the Nazi Occupation and the ways these past traumas inhabit my own imagination and color my view of the world.
