Abstract
Everyday Cryptids is a collection of short stories focused on fantastic creatures, the potentialities of the unknown, as well as difficulties in relationships and life in modern, urban society. Many of the stories are set in urban areas of Michigan that have been devastated economically and explore the role that escapism and metaphor play in lives that seem meaningless and empty. The collection is accompanied by a critical introduction.
