Over half of students involved in collegiate clubs and organizations report that they have participated in hazing activities. Prior research has shown a link between moral development and the perpetration of various anti-social behaviors, including sexual assault, bullying among adolescents, and academic dishonesty among students.
Dr. McCreary will present on his research exploring the impact of moral judgment and moral disengagement on the hazing attitudes and willingness to intervene as a bystander in hazing situations among college males.

Comments
Dr. Gentry McCreary is the Associate Dean of Students and an adjunct professor in the Department of Educational Research and Advanced Studies at the University of West Florida. Previously, he served as the Director of Greek Affairs at the University of Alabama. His award-winning research examines fraternity hazing, the moral development of college students, and fraternal brotherhood. Gentry serves as a board member for both the Center for the Study of College Fraternity and the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors. He serves as the chair of the research committee for the Association for Student Conduct Administration.
