Abstract
The knowledge and skills necessary to be an effective strength and conditioning coach span many disciplines. To date, there exists a paucity of research and literature on promoting college student understanding of strength and conditioning (S&C). Although commonly used methods of instruction and assessment (i.e., lecture, multiple choices tests) have their palce, we hyposthesize that project-based learning (PBL), when used appropriately, can enhance college student learning through challenging, life-like coaching problems. The purpose of this article is to introduce PBL as an effective instructional strategy to promote college student understanding of S&C.
