Abstract
Darwin proposed natural selection as an adaptive mechanism based on the differential reproduction of inherited variation. One model of natural selection assigns fitnesses or relative reproductive rates to the genotypes at a genetic locus. The most fit have a relative reproductive rate of 1, and the less fit have relative reproductive rates of 1-si. The si values are the selection coefficients.
