Abstract
Computer viruses can wipe out some or all of a user's hard work. Thus, it is important for every computer user to be on the alert. Virus programs have been written in assembler language in the past. However, it also is possible to write them in a high-level language. This may lead to an even greater proliferation of these types of programs than previously thought. A tool which aids in the detection of Corresponding and Surrogate File Viruses is discussed. This tool can be used in conjunction with other tools to provide a high level of security from the computer virus problem. The source code for this tool is provided in the Appendix.
