Abstract
The reactions of low molecular weight Guayule rubber (LMWGR) and maleic anhydride (MA) at varying mole ratios were studied in the polar solvent, cyclohexanone, and in p-xylene, a nonpolar solvent, by conventional free radical catalysis. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) were used to confirm product formation and identification. (C) 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
