Abstract
The following is a collection of short fiction and creative nonfiction pieces written from January 2017 to May 2018, when the author was a student at the Center for Writers at the University of Southern Mississippi. While unlinked in narrative, the pieces often reflect on similar themes: family; the legacy and loss of fatherhood; religion’s unrelenting grasp; and, most important of all, the processes we use to understand, accept, and overcome the worst parts of ourselves.
