Description

Self-archiving promises to be a more equitable route to open access. However, actually doing it can be tedious and confusing for depositors which keeps them from doing it. Mediated deposit can be a huge draw on staff time. We’re building shareyourpaper.org to transform deposit from an often complicated, time-consuming process into one that’s possible in just a few clicks, for any repository without the need for complex integrations. This free, open source, community owned new tool provides an institutional deposit portal that automates metadata entry, permissions, and version checking processes saving staff time and simplifying the self-deposit process. For authors, it means all they need to do is drag and drop their paper: making doing the right thing easy.

This presentation will discuss successes at Montana State University in building, testing and use of shareyourpaper.org, the strategy and tech behind the work, how shareyourpaper.org makes compliance with publisher’s policies easy, the results of implementation, and how other libraries can easily implement the same process locally.
