Description

Many IRs develop long, explicit lists of what cannot be included in their collections, sometimes due to copyright concerns, but often to ensure that the repository meets an idealized version of a collection filled only the highest quality materials. I question why this approach is so common among IRs and advocate for a strategy of saying 'Yes' whenever possible, to grow the IR into a vibrant, accurate reflection of the institution and its community partners. I discuss my non-traditional partnerships with campus programs, museums, and support offices to build buy-in for the IR and to promote open access to more than just faculty.
