Description
This presentation will demonstrate how the University of Mississippi's Digital Initiatives Librarian uses a variety of free software and coding scripts to automate metadata generation and prepare unusual resources for ingest into the institutional repository. The demonstrations will include scraping a YouTube channel using an API, batch exporting blog metadata and converting individual post pages to PDF, and preserving a website. The goals of this presentation are twofold: first, to show practical ways repository librarians can use these tools in content collection, and second, to inspire them to think about ways to capture unusual or complicated resources at their own institutions.
