Description
As institutional repositories (IRs) become more widespread across research institutions for global access, library and information professionals must leverage the power of data analytics to understand how their global audience accesses their IR's content. Using unsupervised clustering and various measures of text similarity, this project-in-progress proposes methods for determining the relationship between search engine performance (Google) and subject metadata of resources found in institutional repositories participating in the Repository Analytics and Metrics Portal (RAMP). The methods utilized provide a first step for understanding how global users are interacting with IR content through Google, thus adding to the growing areas of IR collection development.
