Abstract
This talk reflects on Dr. Andrella's path into Digital Humanities and my interests in cultural heritage and history. Drawing on my training and experience with Digital Humanities, this talk will also focus on career opportunities and how to leverage digital skills for the job market. She also explores how archivists, historians, and digital humanists can engage with questions of representation, metadata, and reparative data practices when working with cultural heritage materials, especially in digital contexts.
Dr. Jennifer Andrella is an Assistant Professor of History and Digital Humanities at USM. She specializes in the nineteenth-century American West, Native American history, and the Civil War and Reconstruction eras. She is also affiliated with the Center for Digital Humanities, where she collaborates with faculty and students on the creation of digital projects. Her DH interests include digital mapping, geospatial analysis, and digital pedagogy. She is the creator of the project, Mapping the Upper Missouri: Visualizing Negotiation, Diplomacy, and Culture on the Northern Plains, 1801-1853.
