Description

This session will review noteworthy findings of a survey designed to assess institutional repository (IR) management and staffing approaches among a selection of mid-size public universities. Following the realignment of job responsibilities within the library, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga recently adopted a decentralized model of oversight and management of its IR that divides responsibilities among four librarians and archivists across multiple departments. While this model has proven functional, the arrangement prompted an investigation into the IR management and staffing strategies of other academic libraries. The session will conclude with a guided discussion of approaches to staffing IRs.
