The Southern Miss Gulf Scholars Program aims to inspire and prepare undergraduate students to create a more equitable, just, and resilient Gulf of Mexico region through developing inquiry and service-learning projects built on the foundations of place studies, sustainability and interdisciplinary thinking.

To achieve that, Southern Miss faculty participate in a series of workshops to create place-based experiential learning experiences. Place-based learning connects experience to concepts and then concepts to application, the very frame of the Gulf Impact Project. Place-based experiential learning begins with wonder, the big questions that arise from our everyday lived experiences. Wonder sparks knowledge acquisition through inquiry, and inquiry leads to action.

Below, you'll find the workshop materials and the learning experiences created by Southern Miss faculty.
