Abstract
Every April, the University of Southern Mississippi Libraries hosts the Southern Miss Institutional Repository Conference (SMIRC), in which repository managers from across the country come to campus for two days of presentations and workshops. However, in March 2020, the sudden shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a change in plans. In this presentation, we will discuss how we were able to shift the conference from an in-person event to a fully online conference in less than a month. We will also share some best practices and lessons learned for based on our experiences. If you are new to hosting events online or if you are considering moving previously-scheduled in-person events to an online environment, this session will help you get started!
